CLE: How to Help Your Clients Give Away Their Money - The Basics of Charitable Giving

Description:
This two-hour program on charitable giving techniques is for the estate planner and general practitioner who wants a broad introduction to the world of charitable giving techniques. It will also provide an introduction for the transactional lawyer looking to help his selling client protect the sales proceeds. Our speakers will discuss direct gifting, private foundations, donor advised giving, community foundations, gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts and their tax consequences.

The seminar is a must attend for anyone working in the estate planning area. Speakers include Penny Serrurier, a partner at Stoel Rives practicing in the areas of tax-exempt organizations and charitable giving, Melissa Berndt, an attorney in the Charitable Service Group of US Bank and Al Zimmerman, Director of Planned Giving at Oregon Health Sciences University Foundation.

Registration forms with payment must be received by the MBA office by June 22 before 5 p.m., or the “at the door” registration fee will apply.

This seminar will be worth 2 OSB MCLE credits. 2 Washington MCLE credits can be obtained individually.
