CLE: Meditations on Mediation
Inside the Mind of the Mediator

Location: World Trade Center Mezzanine, Building 2
26 SW Salmon
Portland Oregon

Additional Info: Multnomah Bar Association

Cost: MBA member $50; nonmember $80

Description:
A dictionary will tell you that mediation is "an attempt to bring about a peaceful settlement or compromise between disputants through the objective intervention of a neutral party." Your experience will tell you that mediation is often a cost-effective means to resolve your clients' problems.

What our speakers will tell you is that there are strategies, actions and approaches to enhance the process and reach a more satisfactory resolution for your clients.

Please join two of Portland's preeminent mediators, Susan Hammer, Attorney at Law and Jeff Batchelor, Markowitz, Herbold, Glade & Mehlhaf, PC, for a discussion on mediation.

Susan Hammer is a Distinguished Fellow in the International Academy of Mediators and a member of Mediators Beyond Borders. She has served as a mediator since 1988 and has mediated over 1,000 disputes.

Jeff Batchelor is a full time mediator and arbitrator, having mediated hundreds of cases across a broad spectrum of litigation, principally in the commercial setting. Drawing on his diverse appellate background and his experience as a pro tem circuit judge, Jeff began mediating cases in 1995, six years after he arbitrated his first case in 1989.
